Paternoster Square is well worth a look if you're venturing into the City of London. In this borough history and modernity sit alongside each other. The square is also the heart of the city's financial district, housing the London Stock Exchange and it's not far from the Bank of England.

The Paternoster Column is in Paternoster Square in close proximity to St Paul's Cathedral. Is is not as grand as Nelson's Column but is a poignant memorial to the Great Fire of London that devastated much of the area. At the base of the column you can sit on the stone and enjoy the scenery. When I visited there was alot of stuff happening in.

The Story Behind The Paternoster Square Column

Paternoster Square is an urban development, owned by the Mitsubishi Estate, next to St Paul's Cathedral in the City of London. The area, which takes its name from Paternoster Row, once centre of the London publishing trade, was devastated by aerial bombardment in The Blitz during World War II.

Erecting of the Paternoster Square Column 2008 is a large rectangular drawing by the Argentinian artist Pablo Bronstein. The work depicts a gigantic and highly ornate Corinthian column that is being raised upright using what appears to be an ancient wooden pulley and scaffolding system.
